Mary Ann Chambers, 82 of Lancaster, TX was born on December 13, 1942 at Florence Nightingale Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She passed away peacefully at home on October 8, 2025.
Mary Ann grew up in Lancaster, TX on the family farm which she often shared loving memories of. She was a graduate of Lancaster High School and Draughons Business School. She loved staying in touch with Lancaster classmates and attending class reunions.
Mary Ann worked as a secretary for most of her life. Later in life she raised her granddaughter, Haley Bates, from the age of 8. She also became a full-time caregiver and was a blessing to all she cared for. Her greatest title in life was Nanny. She loved to attend events and activities for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her delicious home cooked meals.
The only thing Mary Ann loved more than her family was the Lord. Mary Ann was a member of the Church of Christ since childhood. She took great pride in sharing with people that her great-great-grandfather, Henry Clay Rawlins, helped begin Cold Springs Church of Christ. She loved Jesus and served others all the days of her life. She was a very active member of her church, hosting home groups, and was part of the care team that provided meals. She did everything she could to help anyone who needed it.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Page and Dorothy Denton; brother, Page Denton Jr.; her infant son, Robert Chambers; her daughter, Sherry Chambers Bates; her son-in-law, John R Bates; and her beloved grandparents, Clyde and Berta Lee Denton.
Mary Ann is survived by her son, Stephen Chambers; her granddaughter, Chelsea Brantley and husband, Lance; her granddaughter, Haley Bates; her granddaughter, Presley Mullins; her great-grandchildren, Ayden Chambers, Ashlynn Bishop, Remington Harlow, Breka Brantley, Gage Brantley, Nolan Brantley, Larkin Brantley and Corbin Brantley; her sister, Sandy Givens; numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends who loved her.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of Mary Ann's life will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 also at Byrum Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas.
Family will receive friends and loved ones at a reception at Cold Springs Church of Christ, 2710 West Main Street, Lancaster, TX, immediately following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of her daughter Sherry Chambers Bates. https://www.heart.org/en/get-involved/ways-to-give?form=FUNQCSERKQD&sc_camp=74BDCAFF54BB490B8E37C664AE727101
