Mary Lou Chambless, a beacon of kindness and wisdom, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, the 26th day of May 2025, at the age of 93. She was born on the 3rd day of March 1932, in Fannin County, Texas to parents Thomas Jefferson Burk and Fannie Mae Haynes. Mrs. Chambless lived a life marked by faith, love, and an unwavering dedication to her family.
Mrs. Chambless's journey began in the heart of Texas, where she was raised with the value of love. Her spirit was a radiant light that drew people together, and her home was always filled with the aroma of freshly cooked breakfasts, a testament to her love for cooking and nurturing those she held dear.
A dedicated member of the Crockett Road Church of Christ, Mrs. Chambless's faith was the compass that guided her through life. She embodied the teachings of Jesus in her everyday actions, always extending a hand of support and a word of encouragement to those around her. Her garden was not only a source of beauty and sustenance but also a reflection of her ability to cultivate growth and life in all its forms.
Mrs. Chambless found her greatest joy in the time spent with her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchild grow. Each moment with them was treasured, and her presence was a gift that enriched their lives immeasurably. Her love for her family was her most defining characteristic, and it is this love that will continue to live on in their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Fannie Burk; husband, Raymon David Chambless; sons, Gary David Chambless, Leslie Lee Chambless; grandson, Brad Chambless; sisters, Maude Foster and Tommie West; and brothers, Clifford and R.H. Burk and Jack Burk.
Mrs. Chambless leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be carried on by her daughter-in-law, Kathy Chambless Hagemeier; her sister, Pearl Lowrey; her grandchildren, Terry Chambless (Heather), Cindy Craig (Joe), and Sherri Chambless; and her great-grandchildren, Chassity Chambless, Jayden Townsend (Kacie), Cason Craig, Brayden Chambless, and Cade Craig. Her great-great-grandchild, Asher Townsend, will grow up hearing stories of his great-great-grandmother's kindness and grace.
Funeral services to honor Mary Chambless's life are to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 31st day of May 2025, in the Rhone Funeral Home Chapel with Dan Manuel officiating the service. Interment will follow in Pilgrim Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family and share fond memories of Mrs. Chambless one hour prior to the start of the service.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Terry Chambless, Joe Craig, Jayden Townsend, Brayden Chambless, Cason Craig, and Cade Craig. Honorary pallbearers include Bobby Brunson and Joe Lowrey.
