Mary Ann Chapelle

Mary Ann (Marchek) Chapelle, 89, passed away on November 6, 2025. Conrad, Mary Ann's husband of 61 years, preceded her in death. Mary Ann is survived by her three children: Joseph C. Chapelle (Catherine); Ann Moenart (Robert); and Ellen Chapelle (Coleman). Mary Ann is also survived by seven grandchildren: Megan and Maria Chapelle; Christina Cwynar (Matt), Michelle Byars (Patrick), and Paul Moenart (Rachel); and Max and Ania, as well as three great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann was the youngest of three children and the only daughter of Col. Carlyle Steven Marchek and Ellen B. Marchek (Juel). Mary Ann's brothers, Frank (Betty Marie) Marchek and Carl (Kathy) Marchek preceded her in death.

Mary Ann was a self-described "Army Brat," having lived in Omaha, Nebraska; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Valley Forge, Pennsylvania; Washington D.C.; and Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from the Washington School for Secretaries in Washington, D.C. Although Mary Ann had a long career as a secretary, she devoted most of her life to her family. Mary Ann's family always knew that she would drop everything to come and offer help whenever they called. She had a bottomless well of love and emotional support to share. Mary Ann will be missed by all who had the privilege of meeting her. Mary Ann will be remembered for greeting every person she met with a warm smile and kindness. As a devout Roman Catholic, Mary Ann believed that all people should be greeted without judgment, regardless of their appearance, and should be treated with respect.

Mary Ann's family and friends will gather Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 5PM-7PM, at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes, Hamburg, Michigan. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 11AM (10AM gathering), at St. Mary Catholic Church, Pinckney, Michigan.
