Obituary
Of Monroeville, age 79, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 12, 2023 surrounded by her loving family, after bravely battling several long illnesses at Family Hospice in Lawrenceville, PA.
Mary Ann will be reunited in heaven with her husband of 56 years Joseph "Joe" Angelo Chioda who predeceased her on March 22, 2022.
Loving mother of Joseph (Janette) Chioda of Port Charlotte, Florida, Lisa (Chuck) Ritchey of Murrysville, and Amy (John) Lewellen of Plum.
Cherished Grandmother of Haley (Nick) Forti and Madison Chioda; Morgan, Taylor, and Charlee Ritchey; Kelsi and Lexi Lewellen.
Preceded in death by her father John J. Gioiosa, Mother Mary Jane (Laratonda) Gioiosa, brother Daniel Gioiosa, and sister Lucille Gioiosa (infant).
Loved dearly by her brother Robert (Terri) Gioiosa, sister Anne (Ed) Rito, and sister in law Joy Gioiosa. Mary Ann is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws which she held dear to her heart.
Mary Ann grew up in Altoona,Pennsylvania and was raised by a Christian family. She accepted Christ at a young age and always put the Lord and her family first. She worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Altoona until the age of 21 when she met and married Joe in 1966. After they made a home in Monroeville, PA she continued to work at Metropolitan in McKeesport, PA. When she became a mother she chose to stay home to raise their children while supporting Joe with his auto body repair business and Gospel music ministry Streets of Gold. She was an excellent bookkeeper for Joe's auto body business. Mary Ann also worked as an Administrative Assistant for Sunrise and Eastern Area schools for exceptional children in the 1990's. Mary Ann and Joe were inseparable and the love she had for her husband, children and grandchildren was immeasurable. She will always be affectionately remembered for the love and kindness she showed throughout her life to her family and friends, always putting others before herself even at the end of her life. She will be remembered fondly for her warm smile, laugh, and sense of humor.
Friends welcome Saturday, August 19, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350 where a Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m.
Mary Ann will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Joe at Restland Cemetery.
