Mary Theresa Ciak, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the age of 92.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on February 2, 1932, to the late Felix and Frances Malecki, Mary was one of seven children. She is survived by her sister Irene Wiwigacz and was preceded in death by her siblings Harry, Art, Christine, Phyllis, Robert, and baby John.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Ciak, with whom she shared a beautiful life and family. Together, they were blessed with five children: Susan (Walt) Surducan, Chris (Cindy) Ciak, Paul (Christine) Ciak, the late Matthew Ciak, and Jennifer (Daniel) Waligora. Mary adored her 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, finding immense joy in their presence. She experienced profound loss when her beloved Ray passed away in 1982, leaving her widowed at the young age of 50. However, Mary's strength and determination guided her through the difficult times.
A devoted Catholic, Mary found solace and community in her faith and was an active member of Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She dedicated her time and heart to serving others, volunteering for Arbor Hospice for over 10 years. Mary was a proud graduate of St. Andrew School, Class of 1951, and cherished memories of her time there.
Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Gardening brought Mary great pleasure. Her green thumb was unmatched, and her love for all types of flowers was evident in the vibrant kaleidoscope that adorned yard every season. She also enjoyed baking delicious treats to share with the people she loved. Her many sweet treats were a testament of her kind and sweet personality. Mary was a beacon of warmth and comfort to all who knew her. Her presence brightened every room, and her memory will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those she touched.
In remembering Mary's life, let us remember her boundless love, unwavering faith, and the legacy of kindness she leaves behind.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Solosy Funeral Home. Rosary Service begins at 6:30 p.m.
Instate will be on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 9:30 a.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church until time of mass.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Mary will be laid to rest at St. Hedwig Cemetery following cremation.

Mary was our neighbor for 33 years, our friend and we considered her family. Mary was a wonderful person with a beautiful Spirit. She was always concerned about others. Always baking things for us. She was an avid baker, gardener and loved going to church. We shared many conversations over the fence.
Our deepest sympathy to her family. Mary will be forever missed. May God Bless her and keep her in the Palm of His hand.

Mrs. Ciak was such a strong woman of faith; just a truly beautiful soul. I will always remember that about her; and am very thankful to have stayed in touch over so many years, even if we didn't see each other often. We were always close in prayer and spirit. Praying for the repose of her soul; and for comfort and peace for the whole family. Your mom will be missed; but what a legacy she has left. God bless you.

Grace and I met Mary later in her life through her daughter Jennifer. We are so fortunate and grateful that God brought her into our lives. Mary was a lively, youthful, and caring person. We had great times and conversations with her. Mary will be sorely missed by us and so many others.

December 26, 1997 -- met her when I came to pick up Jennifer in Allen Park for dinner at Moro's. I brought a present package wine bottle to share... the 3 of us drank the entire bottle ... Jennifer and I went on our dinner date ... Mary still has the memorable wine box in her possession as a keepsake! Jennifer and I have been to Moro's every 12/26 for 20 consecutive years, returning back to her mom's after dinner to play rummy, etc.! Wonderful memories! Love, ~Dan
