Mary L Cingle

Clarence, Pennsylvania - Mary L. Cingle, 82, of Clarence, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on December 26, 1942, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Betty (Quay) Emel. On June 27, 1964, in Bellefonte, Mary married the love of her life, William D. "Bill" Cingle, who preceded her in death on June 30, 2014.
A proud graduate of Bellefonte Area High School, Mary went on to serve her community through the U.S. Postal Service, starting as a clerk at the Clarence Post Office and eventually working her way up to Postmaster. She retired in 2003 after 30 years of dedicated service.
Mary was a devout member of the Queen of Archangels Parish Church in Clarence, where she nurtured a deep and personal relationship with her faith. She was also an active member of the Clarence Moose and the Clarence American Legion Auxiliary.
Known for her caring nature, Mary had a heart that extended to everyone around her. As a young girl, she helped care for her siblings, and as a mother, her home became a safe haven for the children in the neighborhood. Mary was a motherly figure to many on the Mountaintop and touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity.
Mary had many passions that brought joy to her life. She enjoyed playing cards, visiting casinos, and spending time at the Mountaintop Senior Center. An excellent cook and baker, she loved preparing meals, especially for holidays. Her love for her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Mary was also an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, and she enjoyed socializing with everyone she met.
She is survived by her three children: Jeffrey D. Cingle and his wife, Laura, of Clarence; Timothy W. Cingle and his wife, Colleen, of Snow Shoe; and Stephanie J. Hall and her husband, Stuart, of Lock Haven. She was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
Mary is also survived by two brothers: Steven Emel of South Carolina and Edgar Emel and his wife, Vickey, of Bellefonte; and one sister, Sue Hilliard and her husband, Rich, of Karthaus.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Clayton Cingle, as well as five brothers: Phil, Richard, David, Gray, and Larry, and three sisters: Dot Mann, Ann Ishler, and Barbara Bathurst.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Queen of Archangels Parish Church in Clarence, with Father Michael Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
