Mary Claudine Calhoun, 98, of Oakland, died on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Peace Healthcare at Dennett Road Manor. Born on December 6, 1925, in Loch Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Murray Edward and Carrie Mae (Haskell) Paugh.
Claudine worked as a cook in the Southern High School Cafeteria for 35 years and, after her retirement, continued to substitute in a number of Garrett County schools. In addition to her job at the school, she loved caring for her family and home. She was known for her Sunday buckwheat cake breakfasts where she would feed her family as well as many friends. Claudine loved quilting and, most of all, visits from her grandkids and granddogs.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Edward Paugh and wife Judy, Patricia Marie Rolf and husband Donald, Lois Dolan and husband Rick, Kimberly D. Hamilton and husband Jeff, and Melvin Curtis Calhoun and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Michael Eugene Paugh, Mary Joyce Tasker, Rod Neely and wife Lanita, David Allen Rolf and wife Becky, Tina Marie Rolf, Pamela Sue Clayborne and husband Mark, Nicholas Adam Dolan and wife Kristen, Carrie Lynn Domene and husband Colin, Tiffany Marie Dean and husband Jeremy, Jonathan Ward Hamilton and wife Brittany, Kati Diane Przystup and husband Ian, Samantha Jo Calhoun, Adam Curtis Calhoun, Jennifer Jo Smith and husband David, and Eric Daniel Glotfelty and wife Ashley; numerous great and great great grandchildren; a sister, Nina White; sisters in law, Vonda Paugh and Agnes Paugh; son in law, Butch Glotfelty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Harvey Calhoun; her daughter, Elizabeth "Ann" Glotfelty; granddaughter, Debbie Rastell; brothers, Junior, Harland, Leroy, Gordon, and Burl; and sisters, Beulah Felton and Adra Fogle.
Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 11 AM to 1 PM. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM with Pastor Wally Weeks officiating. Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
Wearing of face masks in the funeral home would be appreciated.
