Mary "Jeanette" Coop

Mary "Jeanette" Coop, age 81, of Albia, IA, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia.
Jeanette was born on December 6, 1943, at home on the farm outside of Lovilia, IA, to Jim and Eleanor (Reid) Reed. She grew up attending country school before attending Lovilia High School and graduating with the class of 1962. She married Donnie Tucker and to this union, 2 children, Randy and Linda, were born. Jeanette and Donnie later divorced. On September 20, 1996, she was united in marriage to David Coop in Unionville, MO, gaining 2 stepchildren, Angela and Andrew. Jeanette and Dave shared 28 years of marriage prior to her passing.
Jeanette worked at Chicago Rivet in Albia for 25 years where she was a machine operator and lead person. She enjoyed reading and going for rides with Dave in their blue Austin-Healey. She loved to travel to see new places, visiting almost all 50 states in her lifetime. She enjoyed looking at lighthouses in her travels. Jeanette enjoyed being outdoors and flower gardening. Her true joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jeanette is survived by her husband, Dave Coop; 2 children, Randy (Truddy) Tucker and Linda Tucker; 2 stepchildren, Angela (Michael) Goerndt and Andrew (Jill) Coop; 5 grandchildren, James (Tamera) Tucker, Catherine Tucker, William Tucker, Damon Tucker, and Savannah Tucker; 2 step grandchildren, Elliott and Erica; 6 great grandchildren, Isabella, Landon, Liam, Ryland, Veyda, and Rowan; and her mother-in-law, JoAnn Coop. Jeanette is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Eleanor Reed; and siblings, Jack Reed, Beth Jenkins, and Dale Reed.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the First Christian Church in Albia, with Jeanette's family present to greet family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the First Christian Church in Albia, with Pastor John Sowers officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Highland Cemetery in Eddyville.
A memorial has been established to Carnegie-Evans Public Library in Albia.
