Mary Sue Coseo, 74, of Johnstown, Colorado passed peacefully on November 4, 2025.
Mary Sue (Susie) Jacobs was born in Norton, Kansas on September 30, 1951. She moved often with her family across states due to her father working in the oil fields. Susie graduated from high school in McPherson, Kansas and attended Manhattan Christian College. She and her first husband, Robert Peterson, had their eldest son in Wyoming then moved to Longview, Texas where they had two more children. Following a divorce, Susie and her three children moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming to be closer to family in 1986.
After her children graduated from high school, Susie moved to Loveland, Colorado where she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Coseo. They were married on August 19, 2000. Bill and Susie, along with their children, welcomed ten grandchildren. Their home was always open, ready to host family gatherings and extend hospitality to the extra family that God brought their way. Family was everything to Susie and being together was her gold. The grandchildren were her JOY! She was their biggest fan, faithful prayer warrior, and constant support.
Susie introduced her children to faith in the Lord, and they witnessed her cling to Jesus throughout her life. Prayer was her weapon and His word was her sword. She also encouraged many others in their faith journey.
Bill and Susie modeled love in their constant care of each other and so many others. When Susie was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy in 2020, her faithful husband tended to her every need as her body quickly declined. Susie passed peacefully in her home on Tuesday morning with her husband and daughter by her side. All her children and grandchildren were able to say their goodbyes the day before in person or by phone. She was and will be forever loved.
Susie was proceeded in death by her father, Frederick Jacobs. She is survived by her husband, William Coseo of Johnstown, Colorado. Susie left a legacy of love in her children and grandchildren: Matthew Peterson of Greeley, Colorado (Olivia Peterson, Josiah Peterson); Marti Jo McBee (Gary) of Des Moines, Iowa (Kaden McBee, Aleah Rowland (Josiah), Cooper McBee); Mark Peterson (Monica) of Johnstown, Colorado (Garrett Peterson, Tucker Peterson, Nolan Peterson); Jeffrey Coseo of Florida; and Shantel Southwick (Christian) of Greeley, Colorado (Sutton Southwick, Graclyn Southwick). She is also survived by her mother, Joyce Cooper (Tom) and her four sisters: Tresa Stapleton (Michael), Marti Haugen (Nick), Jamie Ellis (Scott), Janel Spaulding (Bob), as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Susie loved strong – all and everyone. She left behind a godly heritage and legacy of love. Her family was everything. She was Nana to her own grandchildren and to many more. From hugs, back scratches, gum supply, pumpkin bread, cards of encouragement, and countless prayers, Susie loved fiercely. Her heart was to love all, not perfectly, but intentionally with all she had. That is how we will remember the daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nana, and friend.
A Celebration of Life service honoring Susie will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church in Johnstown, Colorado. All who knew and loved Susie are invited to come to share memories, laughter, and stories as we celebrate her life, faith, and her legacy of love. A luncheon will follow at the same location.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
