Mary Leigh Winn Crumpler, a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the age of 85. She was a devoted preschool teacher at Mount Pleasant Baptist Day Care, touching the lives of many young ones and leaving a lasting mark on their hearts and minds. She was a dedicated member of Swift Creek Baptist Church, where she volunteered to work with children in Vacation Bible School. After retiring from teaching, she and her husband, Paul, went on to have a second career carving and painting waterfowl, shore birds, and ducks. Paul would carve them, and Mary Leigh would bring them to life with her talented painting. She won several awards for her abilities, and their birds are now occupying places in people's homes all across the world. Her greatest joy came from her family. She delighted in time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved breakfasts with her nephew, Michael, and visits with her niece, Carol Ellen. Most of all, Mary Leigh cherished her husband, Paul. Wherever he was going, so was she. They shared a true-life love story for 68 years. Mary Leigh is preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Thomas Winn, her mother, Mattie Leigh Winn, her sisters, Ethelyne and Dixie, and her brothers, Roy, Leonard, and George. She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul, her sons, Bobby and wife Donna, Billy and wife Lisa, Barry and wife Brandi, Paula and husband Robbie; eight grandchildren: Justin, Laura, Christine, Megan, Reed, Leigha, Brianna, and Trace; and eight great grandchildren: Ayla, Sam, Aria, Oliver, Ian, Raven, Milly, and Prior, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. Mary Leigh Crumpler touched the lives of many and will be remembered for all the impacts she had over her 85 years. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Swift Creek Baptist Church 18510 Branders Bridge Rd, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Dr. Stephen Felker officiating.
