Mary Rush Curry

Mary Rush Curry, 95, of Avondale Estates, GA, died on August 23, 2025. She was born June 15, 1930, in Wildersville, TN, to Sarah Melba and John Lloyd Rush. Growing up, she lived in both Wildersville and Jackson, TN,

Upon graduating from The Jackson School of Business, she was employed at the Milan Arsenal, in Milan, TN. There she became acquainted with her future husband, John Edgar Curry. They were formally introduced by her uncle and were married a year later.

Through her husband's work, they lived in both Tennessee and Georgia. They made Lebanon, TN their permanent home in 1975.

When John died at an early age, Mary continued her career at TRW/ Ross Gear as a Senior Accounting Clerk. In 1995, she retired after 19 years of service to the company.

The following year, she moved to Avondale Estates to be close to her family. During those years, she served on the Board of Directors for the Condominiums of Avondale Estates, the Altar Guild and was a front desk volunteer at Holy Trinity Parish. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter. In addition, she enjoyed traveling with her sister, Sarah and close friends, being a member of the Avondale Woman's Club, along with enjoying the company of her lively bridge group.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Mary Ellen Moore (Steve), granddaughter Lora Moore, nieces Sarah McCullough (Ted), Elizabeth Bartholomew (Chris), grand-nieces Annabel and Liz Barholomew, and Sadie McCullough, grand-nephew Ramsey McCullough, nephew Wayne Curry (Carolyn), niece Carol Woodard (James), grand-nephews Mark West and Scott Curry, and grand-niece Mitzi Steiner.

Mary Is predeceased by her husband, John, and her sister, Sarah Rush Roy.

Her family would like to thank Personal Care, Inc and Arbor Terrace of Decatur for the care she received during the last year and a half of her life. In addition, they would like to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Emory Decatur Hospital for her end of life care.

A memorial reception will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Episcopal Relief and Development or a charity of your choice.
