It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Lawton (Wagner) Dalesandro, who was born on January 30, 1940, in Evanston, Illinois. Mary departed this life peacefully the evening of May 24, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion.
Mary shared a profound and enduring love with her husband, Joe, to whom she was married 62 wonderful years. Their bond was a testament to true partnership and devotion, a source of inspiration to all who witnessed it. Mary's greatest pride was her daughters, Maria Lana (Jim) McAuslan and Cara Mia (Jay) Frazier, in whom she instilled her values of strength, compassion, and perseverance. Her grandchildren Julia, Jimmy, Ellen, Addison, and Alec, were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was doing crafts, reading stories at sleepovers, attending endless activities, or simply sharing a hug.
Mary also found great comfort and camaraderie within her church community, where she forged deep and lasting friendships. Her hands were rarely still, as she poured her creativity and love into countless crocheting projects, gifting beautiful blankets that will forever be treasured by those who received them. She had a special knack for listening without judgment and providing a steady source of support.
Mary devoted over five decades to helping others through her work in healthcare. After graduating from New Trier High School in 1958, she enrolled in the x-ray program at Little Company of Mary Medical Center, where she earned her certification as a radiologic technologist. She believed in being a lifelong learner and later received her certification in both computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Her career was marked by an unwavering passion for her work, a steadfast commitment to patient care, and dedication to her colleagues.
Mary is survived by her loving family, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. While we mourn her physical absence, we take solace in knowing that her spirit will continue to inspire us. She taught us the true meaning of resilience, the importance of compassion, and the enduring power of love.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton, IL 60187.
