Mary Jane DaVault
Saint John - Mary "Janie" DaVault, 80, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025 at her home. She was born on December 27, 1944 in Russell to Albert and Wanda (Potter) Bird. Janie married Dace DaVault on June 30, 1981 in Cherokee, Oklahoma. He proceeded her in death on July 20, 2015.
Janie graduated from Plainville High School in 1960. She then went to Great Bend Community College where she was introduced to cosmetology. Janie opened her own hair salon called Angles where she worked for 53 years until she retired. She was a board member of the Care of Kansas Service Dogs, American Quarter Horse Association lifetime member and she was a devote Christian going to many church's throughout her life. She was the ultimate cowgirl. She loved animals, her favorites were horses and dogs, her family, especially the great-grand children.
Janie is survived by her daughters, Tammy Christendon, Marcia Crissman and Lisa (Dave) Mieklejohn; son, Randall (Dana) Brown; brother, Clair Bird; and grandchildren, Sammy (Garrett Kern) Hoeck, Colt (Tricia) Hoeck, Molly Mieklejohn, Erin (Jannie) Crissman-Van Niekerk and Mattie Mieklejohn; and one great great-grandchild, Ella, Andrew and Makenzie Hoeck.
Janie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dace DaVault; and brothers, Mike Bird and Ronnie Bird.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society in care of Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt, Kansas. Online condolences may be made at www.larrisonmortuary.com.
