Mary Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Owen Funeral Home - Jeffersontown on Apr. 8, 2024.
Mary Robbins Davis, 84, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and returned to our Heavenly Father on April 6, 2024.
Mary was born on April 11, 1939, in Hawesville, Kentucky to Catherine & John Robbins and had three siblings. At the age of 17, she met the love of her life and soulmate, Floyd Davis,
and wed on August 10, 1957. They were married for nearly 60 years until his passing on April 19, 2017. Upon marriage they moved to Arlington, Virginia, where Floyd was in the US Army. After the birth of their son, they moved to Jeffersontown, Kentucky, where they had two daughters.
While raising her children, she was a thrifty and creative homemaker, school crossing guard, and retail associate at Bacon's. Mary always loved hosting family holidays; cooking and feeding everyone. She enjoyed sewing, camping, square dancing, playing cards and Dominoes, her Card Clubs, and talking on the phone. She was a strong inquisitive woman who wasn't afraid to speak her mind. She loved to laugh, tell jokes, read the newspaper and books (her favorite was the Bible). She was a previous member of Southeast Christian Church for many years and currently a member of West Broadway Baptist Church.
Upon retirement, she and Floyd were fortunate to travel extensively, creating many great memories and wonderful friendships. She never met a stranger and was loved by all. Everyone was always welcome at her home. In more recent years, she came to love "porch therapy" with her special neighbors.
Her greatest accomplishments were being a wife, mother, and being "Two Mom" to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three loving children Barry Davis, Lynn Nuxol (John), and Gina Lutes; son-in-law, Mike Lutes; sister, Patsy Young, brother, Logan Robbins (Linda) as well as nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends. She was most proud of her grandchildren and loved them so very much, Ashley Robinson (Brent); Nicole Talley (Eric), Jason Nuxol (Sarah); Sean Lutes (Whitney), Sarah St. Clair (Eddie), Emily Lutes (fiancé, Philly Thompson); step grandchild, Amy McKiernan (Cary), and great grandchildren, Parker, Erin, Noah, & Raegan Robinson, Archibald Lutes, Eva & Peter St. Clair, and Jack & Lyla McKiernan.
A special thank you to Hosparus Health for their support in her final weeks.

Mary was the crossing guard at Cochrane when my kids were students there. She was always so friendly and loving with my son and daughter. They really loved her! She will always be remembered by our family.

I was so sorry to hear about your mother's passing. We were such good friends for over 55 years. What fun and wonderful times we all of us to have visiting each other, playing bridge even going on cruises. My sincere condolences to the family, I know she will be dearly missed.

Love,
Sylvia Dengg

Thinking of Mary will always make me smile. She was a joy. I'd pick her up for a monthly bridge game or she'd get me. Sometimes, she'd sneak a cigarette while riding in the car. She was nothing but kind to me and even my mom when my mother was still alive I will remember both her and Floyd with love. She will be missed by all who knew her.
