Mary Elaine Dennis

MARY ELAINE (PATCH) DENNIS Passed away December 7, 2025, in Hospice Care in Hingham, Massachusetts. She was born December 8th, 1930, to Philip F. Patch and Bernice (Hayes) Patch in Hingham, Massachusetts. Known as Elaine, she lived her entire life in Hingham, attending schools there before graduating from Bridgewater State College, first becoming a teacher in Weymouth. After her children were in school, she returned to teaching and taught for many years in the Hingham School System.

Elaine was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Wayne Charles Dennis. She is survived by her five children, Richard Wayne Dennis and Russell Hayes Dennis of Hingham, Robert Kent Dennis and his wife Katherine of Norwell, Randall Scott Dennis of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and Kathleen Dennis Johnson and her husband Gregory Johnson of Amherst, New Hampshire, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elaine and Wayne enjoyed camping and spent many years traveling in their fifth wheel around the country. She enjoyed cooking, and was known for her yearly Christmas cookie production, and making memorable family dinners. Elaine was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan and followed them religiously.

Visiting hours for Elaine will be held on Tuesday December 16th, 2025, from 4-7pm at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street, Hingham MA. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday December 17th, 2025, at 10am at Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery, 147 North Street, Hingham, MA.
