Mary Evelyn Dhom, age 94

July 29, 1931 – October 6, 2025

Mary Evelyn Dhom, age 94, of Newton, Illinois, left this earth peacefully at 9:45 AM – Monday, October 6, 2025, at Helia Healthcare of Newton.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM – Monday October 13, 2025, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 1 hour (10:00-11:00 AM) at the funeral home. Burial will be in the New Saint Peter Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. In loving memory of Evelyn, memorials may be made to the Saint Thomas Catholic School. Mary Evelyn was born on July 29, 1931, in Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Cornelius and Florence (Schafer) Dhom. She attended Willow Hill Schools. Mary Evelyn was a member of Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois.

Mary Evelyn married Charles "Charlie" Edward Dhom on July 17, 1954, and he preceded her in death on April 16, 2022. Mary Evelyn worked at many jobs but lastly retired after serving several positions with the City of Newton.

Mary Evelyn is survived by son, James (Donna) Dhom; three Grandchildren, Katrina Schoonover, Matt (Sara) Dhom, Josh (Bailey) Dhom; thirteen Great Grandchildren, Daniel, Nick (Raven), Alice, Olivia, Trevaun (Sabrina), Anissa (Von), Gabriel, Naomi, Asher, Arin, Danika, Katelyn and Dylan; two Step Great Grandchildren, Kyla and Kandace; four Great Great Grandchildren, Nora, Von, Monte and Lincoln; two Sisters, Rose (Harry) Orr and Susan (Tony) Sparks and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Evelyn was preceded in passing by her parents, husband, sister Margaret Cunefare, and brothers Edward, Gary, Henry and Thomas Dhom.
