Mary Dillon Obituary

Mary Ann Dillon, a cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, at the age of 91, in New Albany, Indiana. Born on April 6, 1933, in Sellersburg, Indiana, she was the daughter of William and Elsie Riggle and grew up with a spirited love for life and her community.

Mary Ann had a fulfilling career as a loan officer at Bank of Louisville, where she dedicated over 25 years before retirement. However, her passion for working did not end there. In a beautiful testament to her enduring spirit, she took on a part-time role at Williams Bakery in Clarksville, Indiana, reflecting her love for service and connection. For an impressive 39 years, she found joy in interacting with customers, creating a second career that brought her immense satisfaction and allowed her to form lasting friendships within the community.

Her dedication to her work mirrored her devotion to her family. Mary Ann is survived by her beloved daughter, Phyllis Dillon, who held a special place in her heart. She delighted in her role as a grandmother to Jennifer Evans and cherished her relationship with her special great granddaughter, Sydny Brown, often speaking of her with pride and affection. Mary Ann also leaves behind nieces, Denise and Becky and nephew, Eddie who will remember her kindness and warmth.

Throughout her life, Mary Ann's personality shone brightly. She was known for her deep-seated love for her community, as well as her interests that included listening to music, especially Elvis, spending time with her beloved dog, Bailey, enjoying time with one of her best friends, Johanna Straub, and enjoying the thrill of visits to the casino. Her laughter and warmth will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Mary Ann's legacy is also woven with memories of her late husband, Dan C. Dillon, who passed before her, parents, William and Elsie Riggle, and her brother, Ralph Riggle. She carried their love with her every day, always holding them close in her heart.

Visitation services will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Southern Indiana, where friends and family can gather to honor a remarkable woman who embodied love, community spirit, and unwavering dedication to those she cherished. As we celebrate the life of Mary Ann Dillon, we remember the profound impact she made on everyone around her and the beautiful legacy of love she leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Mary’s memory be made to Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana.
