Mary Sloan Dotson

Mary Sloan Dotson, also known as Mary, Beth, Meme and many others through the years, passed peacefully on November 7th, 2025 at the home of her daughter Julie Culler and son-in-law Michael, surrounded by love and grace.
The family is hosting a visitation on Sunday, November 16th, 2025 from 3-5pm at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC.
For decades, she poured her heart into her work as an assistant kindergarten teacher - a calling she carried with pride and grace. Her classroom wasn't just a place to learn the alphabet; it was where she taught children how to see the world with wonder. Every crayon drawing and story time became a small masterpiece of her patience and joy. And when she retired from teaching, that love for nurturing young hearts didn't end, it just simply moved home. Her granddaughter and great-granddaughter became her newest students, though "lessons" often turned into adventures of crafts, giggles, and shared secrets.
Meme had a gift for turning quiet afternoons into something special. Whether she was trying out a new craft (sometimes for no reason at all) or finding ways to make others laugh, she filled the spaces around her with color and care. Her hands were never still, always stitching, painting, gluing, or building something that somehow turned out to be beautiful, even if she swore she was just "keeping busy."
She was the heart of her family, the steady rhythm that kept everyone connected across miles and years. Her charm was effortless, her warmth unshakable. Even from afar, her love reached everyone she called family.
She leaves behind not only the people who loved her most, but also a legacy of kindness stitched through generations, in every smile she taught, every hand she held, and every craft she left behind as proof that love can be handmade, too.
Surviving are her children Julie Culler (Michael Culler) and Janet Locklear (Michael Locklear), grandchildren Jordan Chapman (Morgan) and Adam Springs, and great grandchildren Charlie Sloan, nephew Nick Dotson (Yvette) and their son Wesley.
Preceded in death is her loving husband, Earl Dotson, who often called her Zippy because she couldn't sit still.
