On Wednesday, December 6, 2023, Mary Draper peacefully transitioned into eternal rest in Glen Burnie, MD after years of battling with Stage 4 COPD.
Mary was born in Greenville, SC, where she spent her early years before relocating to Plainfield, NJ around the age of 5. She went to Plainfield public schools and then went on to work for AT&T for over 17 years and worked for Johnson & Johnson and Verizon for several years as well. She was a faithful member of Ruth Fellowship Ministries.
Mary enjoyed singing, dancing, traveling, cooking, playing bingo and having fun and cutting up with family and friends. Mary moved to Maryland in the early 2000's to be closer to her son Ronald and his family, specifically her grandsons, Tank, Raymond, & Ryan who all played high school basketball. She was their biggest fan and present at every game cheering them on. It was around this time, over 20 years ago that she became a very dedicated and loyal fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles.
Mary experienced the joys of being a mother, wife, big sister, big cousin, godmother, aunt to several nieces and nephews, and friend to many.
Mary also experienced the evolution of becoming a mother to Ronald V. Hill Sr., grandmother to Dr. Ronald V. Hill Jr., and great-grandmother to Ronald V. Hill III; all of which she had very unique relationships and perspectives with.
Mary epitomized the lifestyle of work hard, play hard and take care of your people. She went above and beyond for those that she loved and would do what she could for a stranger in need. Mary was a pillar of our family and the community. She was and always will be a sign of wisdom, strength, leadership, and love.
Mary was preceded by her parents, Ruth Mae Riddick and Charles Frank Rosemond, siblings, Charles & Jerry Rosemond, & Mable, Bruce, & Isaiah Riddick.
Mary is survived by her son, Ronald V. Hill Sr. (Margie), grandsons, Dr. Ronald V. Hill Jr. aka Tank, Raymond V. Hill, & Ryan V. Hill, & great-grandson, Ronald V. Hill III aka Lil Tank of Odenton, MD; sister Gladys Riddick of Chesapeake, VA, brothers, James (Jeannie), & Tony (Authurce) Rosemond of Greenville, SC, and godson, Tracy "KB" Brown (Amy). Blondell Bailey, Daughtry Beverly Tanner Robinson, Violet Howard Kelly, Pat Fields, Winfree Sylvia Howell Smith, Lisa Hailey-Knight were also very close lifelong friends of Mary's.
