Mary Elizabeth Dwyer, 74, of Boise, Idaho, passed away on August 7, 2025.

Born in Suffern, New York, on November 18, 1950, Mary was the daughter of Susan Quirsfeld (née Gurdine) and Harold Hopper. She was one of three sisters and was pre-deceased by her sister, Joan Sundquist.

Mary graduated from Ridgewood Highschool (NJ) in 1969. Shortly after graduation, and to her mother’s dismay, Mary attended the Woodstock Music Festival for a few days of peace and music. In New York City, Mary met Edward Michael Dwyer. Commenting on his Jets jersey, she asked “So, which Jet are you?” After some theatrics involving Ed driving across the country to win her back, the two married on December 16, 1973 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Ridgewood. After living on the west coast, then, back to the east, they moved to Boise in 1988. Ed preceded her in death in 1996. Mary’s pastime was clothes shopping, and she showered her granddaughter with many stylish outfits. Mary loved few things more than a big, Italian meal.

She is survived by her sons, Ryan Dwyer and his partner Jodi Flischer of Boise, ID, and Michael Dwyer, and his wife Caroline Nash and their daughter, Zoë Dwyer also of Boise, ID; her sister, Carol Ritzinger and her husband David Ritzinger of Fairfield, California and their two sons Jeffery and Gregory Ritzinger.

A private remembrance will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul of SW Idaho.
