Dorothy Marie (Maio) Phillips, born March 3, 1928, in Priest River, Idaho, the only child of Sylvia (Jach etta) & Mike Maio, passed away August 24, 2025, at a local care center.
She spent her entire school career in Priest River. During the summer between her sophomore and junior years of high school, she met the love of her life, Wayne Phillips. Both Dorothy & Wayne graduated in 1946 and then continued their education at the University of Idaho.
They were married on July 17, 1948. Over the next 13 years, Dot & Wayne were blessed with 4 children. In 1969, after a stop in Moscow so Wayne could attend graduate school, the family moved to Boise, where Dot remained until her death.
She enjoyed her career working for the Boise School District, first as a classroom aide and then as the registrar at East Junior High.
Dot was preceded in death by Wayne in 2016.
She is survived by daughters Lyn (Terry) Haun, Debby (Pete) Bailey, Mary Anne (Kelly) Sugai, son Pat (Shelly) Phillips, grandsons Adam (Stephanie) Phillips, Andy (Avni Shah) Bailey, Alex Bailey, Joe (Amber) Phillips, and granddaughter Jamie Sugai, great-grandchildren Ezra and Harlan Phillips, Bowen & Rocco Bailey, and Theodore & Clementine Phillips.
The family will hold a private remembrance at a later date.
