Mary Ellen Maxwell Ladle peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on December 10, 2024. She was born on October 27, 1938 in Elko, Nevada to Glen and Joan Maxwell and was the first of four children. She married J. Noel Ladle on August 14, 1959 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had 7 children and put down roots in West Valley City, Utah until they moved into Legacy House of Spanish Fork.
Family history was a special focus of Mom's life and she spent many hours searching for lost ancestors, name indexing, and serving as the treasurer for the Murdoch Family Organization. We grew up knowing the inspiring stories of James Murray Murdoch and Wee Granny. She enjoyed going to family reunions and will be remembered for her candy showers. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers organization.
She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and set a wonderful example of one who strives diligently to serve others and keep her covenants. Mom served in various callings throughout her life that helped her grow as she served those in need. As one who preferred to stay out of the spotlight, she enjoyed quietly encouraging others and lifting weary hands.
Mom enjoyed keeping busy learning and doing many crafts. It seemed like there wasn't anything that she couldn't do with cloth, needle and thread. She liked bookkeeping and worked part-time for many years as a tax preparer for a CPA. She enjoyed gardening and preferred being outdoors to staying inside.
Education was important and she led her family by example. She attended Ricks college and BYU, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Business Education with a minor in Accounting. She also earned a teaching certificate. While Mom never used the degree and teaching certificate for full-time employment, she believed in being prepared in case it was needed and she used those skills throughout her life.
Mary Ellen is survived by her husband J. Noel Ladle and her children Michael Ladle (Annette), Janel Katter (Mark), Wendy Rosser (Robert), Devin Ladle (Kathy), Trent Ladle (Tracy), Kathryn Sorensen (Kent), 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren as well as her brother, J.B. Maxwell.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, her daughter Lori Ann Ladle, and granddaughter Alyse Ladle.
Many thanks to the wonderful people at Legacy House of Spanish Fork for their devoted care to her and Dad.
