Mary Emeott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory on Aug. 24, 2024.
Mary Anne Emeott, age 92 of Newnan, GA passed peacefully from this life to her eternal life on Wednesday August 21 at her daughter's home in Port Saint Lucie, FL. She has now been healed fully and is with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Mary Anne was born in Thomaston, GA on April 8, 1932, and was the loving daughter of Samuel Jay and Willie Mae McBride. She grew up in Marietta, GA with her brother Jimmy (deceased) and sister, Emily McBride Wallace (now of Phoenix City, AL). She dearly loved her grandparents, Grady and Billie Johnson where she spent many days with them in Hapeville, GA. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1949 and continued her education at Massey Business College where she refined her business and administrative skills. Her professional career included positions at Georgia Institute of Technology, Eastern Airlines, B&P Lumber Company, and the United Way of Atlanta from which she retired in 1997.
Mary Anne spent her retirement years enjoying the things she loved the most, her church and her family. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Newnan, GA where she was devoted to her Sunday School class, the Women's Missionary Union, the VOE Choir, the Prayer ministry and spent countless hours organizing, cleaning, and ministering to those in need through the ministry of the church's Alpha Omega Mission Center (A.O. House). She was also very active in distributing God's written Word through the Women's Auxiliary of the Gideons International.
Mary Anne met the love of her life, James Thomas Emeott (Jim) in 1950 at a square dance while volunteering with the USO at the Atlanta Army Depot at Fort Gillem in Forest Park, GA. They were married there on July 2, 1950 and remained together until his passing in 2011. Together they have four children: James Thomas Emeott, Jr (Tommy), Michael Jay Emeott (Mike), William Earl Emeott (Bill), and Sandra Anne Emeott (Sandy). Additionally, she dearly loved her daughter-in-law's Cathy and Anna Marie. Her children gave her six precious grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; each one her "favorite."
Mary Anne also leaves behind three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mrs. Emeott will be held on Friday August 30, 2024 at 11:00 at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, GA 30263 with internment to follow at 2:00 at the College Park Cemetery, 3500 North Adams Street, College Park, GA 30337. Her family will receive guests one hour before the service at McKoon Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church of Newnan AO House, 15 W. Washington Street, Newnan, GA 30263; the Gideon Foundation Bible Fund c/o Coweta Camp West, PO Box 626, Newnan, GA 30264; or the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions c/o First Baptist Church Newnan.

We never had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Emeott, but we are members of Providence Baptist church in Chattahoochee Hill, GA where her son Rev.Michael Emeott is the pastor. Bro. Mike has spoken so much of his mother and her teaching him about God and taking the children to Sunday School and church, that we felt as if we knew her. She seemed to be a very dedicated woman to God, her family, and her country. We are sure she will be missed by all who knew her. Our condolences to all of the family. We both have lost our mothers and share in the feeling of loss that you all endure. May God comfort all of you. Betty and Alton Powell

Mary Ann was one of the sweetest woman I have ever known . She was always pleasant and delightful to be around. Back in the 60´s in College Park, she was loved by everyone that knew her and Jim.
Now they are back together again.
