Mary Sue Evans, Age 78, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Crestview Healthcare & Rehab Center in Brownsville, TN.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Brownsville Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at the Stanton Cemetery.  Visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday Evening, December 10, 2023, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Brownsville Funeral Home, located at 107 S. Lafayette Ave., in Brownsville, TN.

Mary Sue was born on July 25, 1945, in Tipton County to James N. Dancy, Sr. and Clara Lou Webb Dancy.  She was a homemaker.  She loved people and took everyone in and was considered a mother to the world.  She loved watching TV, and she loved her family very much. 

She is survived by her husband, James Evans of Brownsville, TN; her mother, Clara Webb Dancy of Stanton, TN; two sons, Johnny Townsend (Peggy) of Stanton, TN and Roger Townsend of Brownsville, TN; one stepdaughter, Sharon Barnes (Larry) of Middleton, TN; two brothers, Pete Dancy and Robert “Rooster” Dancy; and two sisters, Judy Ann McNabb and Rose Lott. She leaves behind to cherish her memory six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her father, James N. Dancy, Sr., three brothers, James Webb, Cleveland Turpin, and James. N. “Buck” Dancy, Jr. as well as four sisters, Carolyn Louise Elrod, Jan Bennett, Linda Lou Martin, and Dina Clara Dancy.

Pallbearers for the service will be Dale Fincher, Travis Young, RJ Young, JR Baker, Gary Webb, Josh Dancy.  The family has requested memorials be made to West Tennessee School for the Deaf, 100 Berryhill Dr., Jackson, TN 38301. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Brownsville Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
