It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ellen Fairchild, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mary Ellen passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025 at the age of 86, surrounded by family. She was born September 13, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio to Helen and Daniel Wilder. Mary Ellen was the youngest of her six siblings: Judy (Jim), Larry (Cathy), Barbara (Donald), Gary (Mary Anne), Marilyn (Jerry), and Jack (Jenny). She is preceded in death by her adoring husband, Robert L. Fairchild, whom she was married to for 45 years. Also, preceded in death by eldest granddaughter Amber Garcia.Mary Ellen is survived by her loving children; son John (Cathy) Chapman, daughter Jodi Sedlock, granddaughters Jessica Sedlock (Jerry), Stacy (Jim) Smith, grandsons Daniel Sedlock (Shannon), John (Sarah) Chapman, Steven Chapman (Hillary), 4 great-grandchildren; Juan, Isela, Theo, and Louis, one great great grandchild, many nieces and nephews, special friends Andy Buechel and Jeanne Frear, and constant canine companion Sammy. Mary Ellen brought warmth and love to everyone she met and will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her generous spirit, and many special trips with beautiful memories shared with her loved ones. Because Mary Ellen loved and supported animals, the family kindly requests the consideration of donating to your local animal shelter/rescue or the Fairhope Hospice Pickering House of Lancaster which provided Mary Ellen and her family exceptional comfort and care.
