Mary Ruth Farrow, 77, of Providence passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Born in Woonsocket, RI she was the daughter of the late Rev. Clarence Edward Farrow and Hattie Idella (Cole) Farrow.
Mary was passionate about caring for others. Whether it be in her professional life, where she served as a lead in epidemiology at the RI Department of Health for 30+ years or as a cornerstone in her church community at Holy Cross Church of God In Christ United, she made a constant effort to ensure people in her life felt loved. Mary made deep, long-lasting relationships everywhere she went, as she had a natural gift when connecting with people. She had a generous spirit and was devoted to her family and friends. Mary is an alumnus of Woonsocket High School. She was also an avid fan of music and the New England Patriots.
Mary is survived by her devoted sister Peggy A. Garrett; loving nieces Gina Farrow, Robin Farrow-Layne, Princess E. Garrett, Britney Ramos; and nephews Brandon Ramos and Levi Garrett Jr., along with her great nieces Nya Layne and Najah Layne. She was the sister of the late Rev. Robert E. Farrow and Rita E. Ramos.
Visiting hours are Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
