Mary Ruth Fisher, 73, resident of Valley Grove, WV, died Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at WVU Medicine, Wheeling Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Wheeling on August 26, 1952, daughter of the late John W. Farmer, Jr. and Wilda Mae Wiley Farmer.
Mary Ruth was a Methodist by faith. She was a 1996 graduate of the Swissland School of Trucking. She retired as a truck driver, working for 18 years from Eldorado Carriers, Denver, CO. She and her fiance Mark as a team drove coast to coast.
She loved spending time with her family and playing games on her tablet. She loved her dog, Lola.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her fiance, Mark C. Hoffman in 2020; brother, Clarence "Bud" Farmer; stepsister, Josephine Hemsley; niece, Susan Farmer.
Surviving is her daughter, Gloria Mae (Scott) Hancher; son, John Michael (Candy) Fisher; grandson, Scott "Scotty" Hancher, whom she loved dearly; two granddaughters, Brittany Yoho and Alexis Fisher; three brothers, Earl "Doc" (Donna) Farmer, John (Joanne) Farmer, Douglas (Karen) Farmer; sister-in-law, Charlotte Farmer; ex-husband, William Michael Fisher; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Per her request, there will be no visitation or service.
The family wants to thank all of the staff at WVU Medicine, Continuous Care Center for their excellent care they gave to Mary Ruth during the last moments of her life.
