Joan Weekly Obituary

Joan Margaret Weekly, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, in Moundsville, West Virginia, at the age of 95. Born on June 15, 1930, in Triadelphia, West Virginia, Joan lived a life filled with love, dedication, and grace.

Joan was a devoted homemaker who found joy in nurturing her family and creating a warm and welcoming home. Her love for flower gardening brought beauty to her surroundings, and her talent for drawing captured the essence of her gentle spirit. Above all, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

A faithful member of Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Joan's life was guided by her strong faith and commitment to her community. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Chison; her beloved husband, James M. Weekly; and her sister, Ruth Weinbrenner. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her memory dear: her daughters, Mary Beth (James) Doty of Glen Dale, WV, Melissa Ann Henszey of Moundsville, WV, and Michelle Joan (Chuck) Myers of Glen Dale, WV; her sisters, Elizabeth Chison of Lexington, KY, and Mary Chison Snyder of Danville, KY; her grandchildren, Nathan Doty, Zoe (Chris) Fordyce, and Evan Lightner; and her great-granddaughter, Claire Elizabeth Fordyce.

Private services will be held to honor Joan's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Marshall County Animal Shelter, reflecting Joan's love and compassion for all living creatures.

Joan Margaret Weekly will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace.
