Mary K. Fitzgerald, 66, of Alton, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 2:22 am, at LaBella of Alton.
She was born in Springfield, IL, on July 27, 1958, the daughter of James P. and Katherine (Zupan) Fitzgerald.
Mary received her Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. She worked as an executive director and social worker for Morning Star Home Health Care in Bethalto. Her greatest passion was going for "Girls Night Out" with classmates of the 1976 graduating class of Civic Memorial High School. She loved her dogs, Coco and Chloe.
She is survived by a sister, Annette (Keith) Bartels of Bethalto; a sister-in-law, Letha Fitzgerald; special cousins, Debbie (Ed) Rogers, and Kathy (Randy) Marmino; close friends, Mary Ann Klunk, and Sherry Ridings; three nephews, Chris (Abby) Bartels, Jake (Kensie) Bartels, and Danny (Jayme) Bartels; two great-nieces, Kennedy, and Kallyn; and Lou, the first great-nephew, that is on the way.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Pat Fitzgerald.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 9:30 am until time of service at 11 am, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Ken Buttry will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials are suggested to Hope Animal Rescue.
