Mary Fitzgerald Obituary

Born in Cohoes and educated in Cohoes Catholic schools, she was the daughter of the late Maurice A. Fitzgerald and Beatrice McGuire Fitzgerald. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy. She began her career working as a stewardess for the former Capital Airlines. She next earned her nursing degree from Maria College and worked for a brief time at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. She then was employed by the NYS Employees Retirement System until retiring.
Mary was the beloved sister of Sr. Mary Aidan PVBM (Barbara) Fitzgerald of St. Colman's Convent in Watervliet, Carol (late Bruce) Harper of Colonie, Doreen (Frederick) DeWald of Cohoes, Charles "Chuck" Fitzgerald of Cohoes and Paul (Karen Carty) Fitzgerald of Franklinton, NC. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Beatrice (William) Gibbons, Gail L. Truax, Warren J. (Martha) Fitzgerald, Maurice C. (Grace) Fitzgerald, and Mark J. (Mila) Fitzgerald.
A graveside committal service will be held Friday, April 25th, 2025 at 12 P.M. in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Mary's memory to the Sisters of the Presentation, St. Colman's Convent, Watervliet, NY or the Church of the Holy Trinity Parish Food Pantry, Cohoes, NY
