Mary Phillips Foreman

Mary Foreman, born on April 17, 1931, in Virginia, passed away peacefully on March

10, 2026, in North Carolina at the age of 94. Her remarkable journey through life was

marked by a deep love for family, friends, and a passion for antiques, and history.

Mary was the proud owner of the Now and Then Shop, an antique store, that she

shared her husband Grover operated together until his passing in 2001. She shared

her love for timeless treasures with all who visited. Her keen eye for unique furniture

and her vast knowledge of antiques made her shop a beloved fixture in the community.

Prior to starting the antique shop she worked diligently in a dental office, where her

kindness and compassion left a lasting impression on every person she met.

A devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church, Mary's faith was a cornerstone of her life.

Her unwavering belief and steadfast spirit inspired those around her to live with

purpose and gratitude.

Mary is survived by her loving children: Grover C. "Butch" Foreman, III, Susan

Foreman Braatz and Michael Warren Foreman. Her grandchildren: Travis Wells

Foreman, Grover C. "Jesse" Foreman, IV, Michael McGuire Braatz, Michael Luis

Foreman and Casey Elisabeth Foreman, her sister Nellie Lindner, and daughter-in-law

Denise M. Foreman, Courtney Foreman and Sarah Meeks as well as great-

grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Grover C. Foreman, Jr., her parents,

Willie and Rosa Phillips, and her brother, James "Buck" Phillips.

Mary will be remembered for her gentle strength, her infectious smile, and her

unwavering love for her family and friends. Her life was a testament to the beauty of

living with intention and the joy found in simple pleasures. She leaves behind a legacy

of kindness and a reminder to cherish every moment.

In celebrating Mary's life, we honor a woman who touched countless hearts and

inspired all to appreciate the stories behind every cherished antique and every

cherished person. Her memory will forever remain a guiding light to those who knew

and loved her.
