Patrick James Tyrrell, 54, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away at home on March 5, 2026. Born on August 21, 1971, in Illinois, Patrick lived a life full of humor, resilience, and devotion to those he loved.

Patrick proudly served four years in the United States Navy during Desert Storm aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. Following his military service, he became an expert painter, known for his strong work ethic, steady hands, and pride in his craft.

A lifelong Catholic, Patrick carried a deep sense of faith along with a larger-than-life personality. He was known for his quick wit, booming laughter, and his love of gathering people together. Patrick especially enjoyed cooking and grilling out, often bringing friends and family together around good food, stories, and laughter.

He is survived by his older brother, Daniel Jude Tyrrell; his younger sister, Stefanie Erin Coninx; and his stepfather, Robert Lake. He also leaves behind his former spouses, Hylton Tyrrell and Julia Tyrrell.

Patrick was a proud and loving father to Madeleine Tyrrell, Maeve Tyrrell, Patrick Tyrrell Jr. (Kaylee), and Benjamin Tyrrell, and a devoted grandfather to Kolton, Emma, and Sloane.

He is also survived by his aunts Patricia, Debbie, and Mickey; his best friend Tammy; and many extended family members and friends whose lives he touched deeply.

Patrick was preceded in death by his mother, Veronica Lake; his Uncle Mike; his aunts Kate and Sherry; his cousin Amanda; and many dear friends.

Patrick's laughter and spirit will echo in the memories of those who knew and loved him. He touched more lives than he ever realized and will be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend. In true Patrick fashion, he was a legend in his own mind-and in the hearts of those who knew him best.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 17, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory located at 929 Battlefield Blvd. S. Chesapeake, VA 23322. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate Patrick's life.

From this day forward, St. Patrick's Day will forever be Patrick's Day for those who loved him.

May he rest in eternal peace.
