Mary Elizabeth Franks, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother & friend passed away on August 12, 2025 at the age of 87. She was surrounded by love in her final moments. Born on September 13, 1937 in Bainbridge, Indiana to the late George Miller and Floy (Smith) Miller. Mary was known for her warmth, kindness and unwavering devotion to her faith, family & friends. She touched countless lives through her generosity, her gentle humor, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Plainfield.
Mary's life was filled with love, laughter and service to others. She enjoyed riding motorcycles with Harold, her Yamaha 200 was her favorite to ride. She also enjoyed taking long drives with Harold, never knowing where they would end up. Attending (music) Bluegrass in Amo and Fillmore on Tuesday and Friday nights was another favorite of Mary's. Scratching off lottery tickets was a guilty pleasure. She took pride in her office work for various manufacturing companies over the years. Mary will be remembered for her infectious laugh, silly humor and love for her family.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Harold Walter Franks; daughters, Cynthia (Darold) Oty, Sandra White, Dianne (John) Neilson, Carolyn Vernard; sons, Brent Buis, Thomas Franks; 13 grandchildren, Chadd (Sabrina) Oty, Melissa (Travis) Baker, Angie (Joe) Moorhead, Danny (Emma) White, Brandy (David) Gaskin, George White, Shawn Long, William Buis, Noah Hawk, Michael Franks, Elizabeth Franks, & Randall Vernard; 19 great grandchildren, Rebecca (Matthew) Noblin, Hannah Oty, Isabella Oty, Joey (Kayla) Moorhead, Jordan Moorhead, Olivia White, Heather White, Mayleigh White, Danielle White, Kimberlynn White, Danny White Jr., Rachel White, Wyatt White, Jeremiah Gaskin, Gabriella Gaskin, Ellador White, Gary White, George White, Enaiah White; 4 great great granddaughters, Kimber Amelia Noblin, Oakley Moorhead, Aspen Moorhead & Willow Moorhead; and is preceded in death by grandson, Gary White; son , Alan Franks; daughter, Arlene Franks; siblings, Dale (Blache) Miller, Joyce (Bill) Kershaw, William Miller, Kay (Bud) Jarrett, Sharon ( Ted) Jarrett & Larry ( Maria) Miller.
A service to celebrate Mary's life will be held on Saturday August 16, 2025 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 p.m., where friends and family will be received from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services, with friends and family invited to share memories and honor her legacy.
Mary's love and light will remain in the hearts of all who knew her, her spirit will live on in the stories, laughter, and the love she shared so generously.
