LaVierre "Loring" Lovett Jr.

LaVierre "Loring" Lovett Jr., age 72, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026. Born on September 29, 1953 in Athens, Ohio, he was predeceased by his parents, LaVierre and Madge (Paxton) Lovett and his sister, Laile (Joe) McBride; and nephew, Michael McBride. Loring is survived by his wife, Beth (nee: Henderson), sons Bill (Stephanie) Lovett and Todd Lovett; and grandchildren Hannah, Miles and Sadie. He is also survived by his brother David (Janet) Lovett, nephew T.D. (Whitney) Lovett, and niece Traci (Steve) McBride-Ellis. Loring graduated from Athens High School and earned a Telecommunications degree from Ohio University. Throughout his career he worked at WCHS-TV, and WOWK-TV in Charleston, West Virginia; and WOUB-TV in Athens, Ohio. Loring was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church. He especially enjoyed golf and Ohio Bobcats sports.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Athens First United Methodist Church in Athens, Ohio with Rev. Robbie Scott officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Athens First United Methodist Church, 2 S. College St., Athens, OH 45701.
