Mary "Puddin" Madeline Goines, 65 of Frederick, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Carroll County Hospital with her husband and family by her side. Born on May 1, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Earl "Bubby" Cartnail and Grace Cartnail.
Mary was raised in Frederick County and enjoyed cooking and dancing. Mary was a great asset to the Frederick Community and was highly involved. Her favorite thing to do was to be an advocate for God. Mary was a devoted member of Quinn Chapel AME Church, where she held many roles, including being a cook and singing in the church choir. She was known for her infamous potato salad and shrimp salad. Mary fell in love with the fellowship and the works that God laid upon her. Mary was a fighter and had been one for some years. One of her greatest accomplishments was gaining a relationship with Christ and finding a new way to live. Mary worked in the healthcare field for over 20 years and loved to care for people. The passion she had for others was contagious, which led her grandchildren to follow. Her main goal in life was to keep her family together by preparing and providing endless cookouts.
She leaves to cherish her memory her: loving husband of 39 years, Stefen "Steve" Goines; children, Eric Cartnail (Nunzia), Tysha Goines, Stephania Brown, Jerod Palmer, Jamal Palmer, Tyrell Cartnail, Kashaka Cartnail, Stephan "JR" Goines, Tyneika Goines, and Joshua Goines; 36 grandchildren; she shared a unique bond with the following granddaughters, Naudiah Harris, Tyanna Palmer, Kaviyah Cartnail, I'nez Palmer, Shaniyah and Jayonna Goines and Lamyah Jackson-Goines; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Anna Jones (Glennard), Maryam Abdulaziz (Muhaji) and Sheila Thompson; devoted friends, Lori Prather-Weedon, Donna Goines, Janice Kent, Carroll Smith, Dee Goodman and Debra Eurie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Mary was preceded in death by her: parents, Earl "Bubby" Cartnail and Grace Cartnail; sister, Diane Cartnail; brothers, Timothy Cartnail and Richard Cartnail; and one of her best friends, Sheila Hoes.
