Celebrating a Life Well Lived
Harvey Leon Goines, 72, of Huntington, Arkansas, peacefull passed away surrounded by his loved ones at his home on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Born November 11, 1952, in Huntington, Harvey was the son of Cleveland and Vera (Eden) Goines. He worked for many years with the Sebastian County Road Department before his retirement.
Harvey was a man who valued a simple life. He loved his family deeply, gave selflessly, and found joy in the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and time with the Poteau Mountain Hunting Club were among his favorite pastimes. He was also a gifted woodworker, known for crafting one-of-a-kind birdhouses, and a skilled mechanic who enjoyed tinkering with anything that needed fixing. Never one to pass up a good bargain, he often spent his free time at local yard sales.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Connie Upton; two sons, Jerry Lee Goines and spouse Shannon, and Matthew Goines, both of Fort Smith; grandchildren, Makayla and Cameron; and siblings, Gene Goines, Bob Goines, and Pat Fuller.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronny Goines.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 29, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at River Glenn Chapel, 1805 North A Street in Fort Smith. A private graveside service will be scheduled at a later date. Cremation is under the care of River Glenn Cremation and Funeral Services.
