Salvador Fautino Caracena-Zarates of Fort Smith, Arkansas, died Sunday, October 5, 2025, at his home. He was born on March 18, 1954, in San Leopoldo, Cuba, to the late Salvador Zarates and Juanita (Caracena) Zarates. He was 71 years old.

Salvador retired from OK Foods in Fort Smith.

He is survived by a daughter, Bessie Marino of Cuba; a son, Salvador Caracena-Zarates II and wife Lindsey of Fort Smith; a step-daughter, Twana Thomas of Fort Smith; his grandchildren, Dionna Clardy, Chance Aguiar-Zarates, Caizlie Zarates, Chase Aguiar-Zarates, and Chaz'lynn Zarates; and his step-grandchildren, Naomi Perkins, Isaiah Owens, Shaytiona Clardy, Javarious Smith, Joshua Rogers, Honesti Rogers, and Channing Blackmon.
