Mary Edna Hammock, 62, of Pearcy, Arkansas passed away June 1, 2025. She was born June 6, 1962 in Los Angeles, CA, to John Gilbert and Ella Gilbert.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, John Gilbert; mother, Ella Gilbert; grandson, Riley Andru Dorn; nephew, Edward Spencer Holmes.
Mary was a dedicated nurse for many years, known for her compassion and quiet strength. Though her days were spent caring for others, her heart was always drawn to the natural world. She found peace in the outdoors, captivated by the changing seasons and the rhythm of life around her. While she loved plants and flowers, she could never quite get anything to grow on her own. Still, her connection to nature flourished in other ways-most of all in her love for beekeeping. Tending to her hives brought her joy and a sense of purpose, allowing her to nurture life in a way that felt both gentle and wild.
Survivors include her daughter, Summer Dorn; brother, Johnny Lum Gilbert (Melissa); sisters, Carol Diane Gilbert, Sheila Lynn Gilbert, and Suzanne Holmes; grandchildren, Skylar and Micaela Dorn; nieces, Grace and Charity Gilbert, Sheila Lynn Prall, LaToyia Luker (Eric), Kristen Vaughn; nephews, Tony O. Hughes, Timothy Hughes, and John Thomas Holmes; and many great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Mary's life will be 2PM Monday, June 9th at Caruth-Hale Life Celebration Center.
Honorary pallbearers are Summer Dorn, Travis Young, Sundee Juenemann, Dr. Lester, Dr. Chen, and Dr. Warford.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses on her team.

She had a big smile that was no stranger to her face, and was generous with sharing it with everybody; she had bright blue eyes and loved animals and other living things. Obviously, by her profession, she loved many people by being a good neighbor not just a nurse, and treating them with care and respect when they were at their less than best. I know she will be remember and missed by many people who only knew her briefly and were cared for by her and engaged with her in the hospital. But the ones that will miss her most are the ones that knew her best and my condolences to her daughter and grand daughters because i know the loss is going to leave a void that no other smile is going to replace or fill.
