Mary Salazar Hancock went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, October 3, 2025. She was surrounded by her family and so much love as she departed this world to rest in the arms of Jesus Christ. To know Mary was to know her deep love for God, her Catholic faith, and her family. She loved her husband, her daughter, and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never missed a sporting event and even taught Caleb how to throw a football and hit a baseball. They shared a special bond over their love for Christmas. She loved spending time with her great-grandson, Charlie, whether they were playing with cars, watching Bluey or coloring. She and Gretchen enjoyed talking about clothes, shopping, and home decor which they would do for hours. Wyntir, whom she raised, always amazed her with her gift of art, and what a wonderful mother she was. She was known to most as Mary, but to those closest to her she was Bebe or Beebs. She loved gardening and she especially loved her forever dog Gibson. Mary was born in Rotan, Texas on May 18, 1956, and graduated from Aspermont High School. She married Daniel Hancock on July 9, 1999. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Asuncion “Jane” and Gregorio “Grady” Salazar; her brothers, Greg and Sesario “Chito” Salazar; her baby sister Olga Salazar; her sister-in law, Shelia; and her nephew Arrin Salazar. Mary is survived by her husband, Daniel Hancock; her daughter, Kristi and husband James Broshears; her grandchildren, Wyntir Albright and husband Brayden Albright, Gretchen Stubblefield, and Caleb Broshears; her great grandson Charlie Albright, and her siblings Wallie Salazar, his wife Greta Salazar and her sister Olga Babbin; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rosary will be held at the Hamlin funeral home Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 6:00pm. Funeral Services will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abilene on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 2:00pm followed by a graveside memorial in the Aspermont Cemetery at 4:30pm. Services are under the direction of Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home Hamlin, Texas.
