Nelda Reyes Carbajal of Hamlin, Texas passed away September 6, 2025 surrounded by family, friends and love. Born and raised in Hamlin, Nelda devoted her life to caring for others and living each day with joy and strength.
From age 18, Nelda worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, dedicating herself to a career of service and compassion. Beyond her work, she found happiness in dancing, barbecuing, and spending time with her family. She was known for her lively spirit, her gritos and for truly living life to the fullest.
Nelda is survived by her children; daughters, Destiny Gallegos of Hamlin and Marcella Vina (Robert) Ortiz of Stamford; sons, Martin (Leigha) Vina Jr. of Hamlin, and Tony (Callie) Hernandez of Stamford. She also leaves behind her father, Raul Reyes, sisters. Amamda (Todd) Heaton, and Sylvia Reyes Torres; brothers Saul Reyes and Mike Argy, Paul Reyes, Jessie (Naomi) Flores, Manuel Guardado, Patrick Reyes and Matthew Reyes; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews that will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Manuela Macias Reyes; sister, Irma Reyes; and brother, Raul Reyes.
Nelda’s life was a testament of love, resilience, and generosity. Her family and friends will remember her laughter, her strength, and the way she brought people together. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
