Eddie "Scooter" Offield, born on August 13, 1956, in Breckenridge, passed away on September 7, 2025 in Hamlin. He had a fulfilling career with B&L Pump & Supply, Pied Piper Mills and Express Energy.
Scooter was known for his warm personality, famously never meeting a stranger and his cooking. He was an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns whether winning ”Hook’em Horns” or losing and he also enjoyed playing slow pitch softball in his younger adult days, golf and watching college sports, the little league world series along with many cooking shows. He loved music like Beach Boys, Eagles, Led Zeppelin and, ZZ Top. He had a genuine love for his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life watching them on the fields and court.
He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Offield Rainey (Atlee), Tara Offield (Chance Brown) of Hamlin TX and Kyrie Offield Avilez (Oscar) of Sarasota Springs NY. Grandchildren Lexi Offield, Allee Rainey (Spencer Walker), Reece Rainey, Rowdy Holden, Axel Avilez, and Austin Brown, One Great Granddaughter on the way: Oaklynn Walker. His father, Eddie Offield (Sammie), of Knox City TX. Sister Tracy Offield Dunham (Rodney), of Hamlin TX Brother: Kelly Offield (Sam)of Holiday TX. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Offield, maternal grandparents Bill and Ferrol Sikes, paternal grandparents Edward F and Joetta Offield and longtime friends Benny Gutierrez Jr. and Arthur “Red Dog” Vanzant. He will be remembered for his kindness and the love he shared with family and friends.
The family will have visitation from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Hamlin Fellowship Hall.
