Mary Louise (Orne) Harrison, age 97 of Longwood at Oakmont, a retirement community in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 13th, 2025. Wife of 54 years to the late Dale E. Harrison, daughter of Stephen and Theresa Orne, all formerly of Fostoria, OH. Survived by sons Stephen (Dana) of Holland, Michigan, Bradley (Jana), of Newburgh, IN, Bruce (Diana) of Woodbridge, VA, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Hillsdale Michigan and a member of Chi Omega sorority. She had been an elder in the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church since 1973, a member of the International Philanthropic Educational Organization, and serving on the Board of Directors for Presbyterian SeniorCare of Oakmont.
Born in the town of Lakewood, Ohio, she led an avid childhood leading as a swim instructor and participating in Girl Scouts. After her education at Hillsdale College, she met the love of her life Dale in the wintry conditions at a Christmas party, taking her home in his Studebaker. The couple moved to O'Hara Township with their children, where she was an active member in the PTA, Children's Theatre, and the Women's Association. She was an active and passionate member in her community.
Mary and Dale enjoyed traveling to Europe, Africa, and Asia; and spent many winter months on the Florida Shore.
Mary will be sorely missed and is at peace with her husband, Dale.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 3rd, 2pm at Longwood at Oakmont followed by burial at Fountain Cemetery on Saturday, October 4th in Fostoria, Ohio.
Arrangements entrusted to the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., Oakmont.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Presbyterian SeniorCare Network Benevolent Fund or Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church.
