Mary Ruth Dunn Henderson, 96, passed away peacefully Friday, October 3, 2025, in her home. Mary was born to the late Thomas Leslie and late Mary Lois Hammond Dunn on July 28, 1929. She was the youngest of four siblings: the late Harley Leslie Dunn, the late Carie Beatrice Dunn Pearson (Ed), and the late Thomas James Dunn (Helen).
Mary was married to the late Lucket Lamar Henderson on June 3, 1947. She is survived by their five children: Raymond "Randy" Henderson (Darnelle), Randall Henderson, Reisa Henderson, Ronny Henderson, and Ricky Henderson (Connie).
Mary ("Gran") is also survived by her grandchildren: Audrey Claire Falcone (Jake), Sarah Caroline Henderson, Jedidiah Henderson, Mary Patton Henderson, Mckenzie Davis, and Shelby Henderson. She is also survived by her very special furry friend, Little Bit.
One of Mary's most memorable achievements was her involvement in the Kosciusko High School Big Red Band as a band member and as a flag girl. She was proud of her effort, talent, and advocacy for flag girls to be featured in the front of pictures along with the drum majors. She was honored in 2022 with a chair purchased in her honor in the Skipworth Performing Arts Center by her son, Randy. She kept her garden and greenhouse full of flowers and plants, and she was proud to show her kids, grandkids, and friends when they visited. She was an avid reader and was quick to share her favorite books and authors. She was a member of First Baptist Church Kosciusko.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. J. Gray Wallace, Dr. Timothy Alford, Jackie, RN, and Wanda, CNA with Accent Care Hospice, as well as Diane Burden, Cindy Cheek, Connie England, and Connie Henderson for the care they provided to Gran at the end of her life.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Parkway Cemetery with Rev. Barry Corbett officiating.
Those serving as pallbearers will include Randall Henderson, Ricky Henderson, Ronny Henderson, Jedidiah Henderson, Grant Lowe, and David Thomas.
