On October 15, 2024, Mary Hennessey of Manchester, NH, passed away at the age of 81. Mary was born in April, 1943, in Manchester, NH where she lived all her life. She was the oldest child of James Ferretti, the founder of Ferretti’s Supermarkets, and his wife, Minnie. Mary graduated from Notre Dame College. She was married to Vincent Hennessey for 55 years with whom she had four children, James, Katherine, Thomas and Mary Ellen. She is survived by them and her sisters, Elinor, Jacqueline and Lori, ten adoring grandchildren and seven loving nieces and nephews. Mary grew up working in her father’s businesses, including Ferretti’s Grill, where she met her husband, Vincent. In her twenties, she served as a teacher in the Manchester city school system. Mary and Vincent later created and ran many successful restaurants together, including the Hennessey House Restaurant, which had locations in New Hampshire and Maine. A dedicated working mother who was tirelessly supportive of her children’s education and activities, in her later years, she returned to teaching in the Catholic school system. Mary will be remembered as having welcomed friends and family around her table with her delicious Italian cooking, loved her family profoundly and lived her life with passion and intention. A private burial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery. Donations in Mary's memory can be made to the Moore Center, 195 McGregor Street, Manchester, NH 03102. Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements
