Mary L. Herren

Mary L. Herren, age 82, of East Peoria, passed away at 1:21 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at The Loft of Peoria.
Born on December 11, 1942, in Peoria, a daughter to Lyle C. and Blanche Lucille (Thompson) Hammond. She was raised and educated in East Peoria graduating with the EPCHS Class of 1960. She married Charles "Dave" Chapman in 1961. She married Larry McKinney in 1972. She later married Larry Herren in Creve Coeur, IL and he preceded her in death on August 28, 1995. Mary worked as a bookkeeper at Jumer's and retired from Hardin Signs in 2011.
Survivors include three children: Denise (Michael) Patton of Peoria, Marc (Heather) Chapman of Franklin, IN and Angie (Tim) Schurter of Lexington, NC; 8 grandchildren: Stephanie (Sam) Lax of Bellingham, Washington, Samantha (Charlie) Parker of Franklin, Indiana, Peter Femiano of Holly Springs, North Carolina, Alexander (Damian) Christopher of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Paige Schurter of Asheville, North Carolina, Rachel Schurter of Lexington, North Carolina, Nathan Schurter of Madison, Wisconsin, and Zachary (Morelia) Chapman of Truman, Arkansas; four step grandchildren: Erin (Mike) Davidson of Peotone, Illinois, Tanner and Tyler from Franklin, Indiana and Justin Dobbs of Lafayette, Indiana; four great-grandchildren: Kylie, Gwendolyn, Maxwell and Annabelle Parker; step-great-grandchild, Eric Davidson, two sisters-in-law Ann Hammond of Bloomington and Shirley Hammond of CA; several nieces and nephews; as well as her best friend Ruth Smith of East Peoria.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry, three brothers: Lee, Paul, and David Hammond, one sister Jean Hammond.
Cremation rites have been accorded. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Wright & Salmon Mortuary on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM until time of memorial service at 2:00 PM. Graveside services will follow in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
