Mary Louise Hicks, age 91, passed away on May 4, 2025. She was born April 13, 1934 to the
late Charles Clifford Prescott and Rena Faye Turman Prescott in Millport, Alabama. Mary was a
homemaker and spent her days caring for and loving her family. Mary enjoyed cooking,
gardening, sewing, a good conversation, and bird watching in her yard. She was a devoted
member of Dermott Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Walton Phillip
(Red) Hicks, as well as two brothers, Harold Prescott and Charles Prescott; and two sisters,
Eleice Gulledge and Claudine Bryant. She is survived by her sons, Dale (Barbara) Hicks of
Dermott, AR and Jimmy (Missy) Hicks of Portland, AR; brothers, Norman Prescott, Bobby Jo
Prescott, and Randy Prescott; sisters, Norma Burris, Elizabeth Thompson, Annette Broomfield,
and Margarete Mixon; grandchildren, Phil Hicks (Kelly Williams), Molly (Wesley) Ellis, and
Brooke (Clint) Hooker; great-grandchildren, Austin Hicks, Matthew Hicks, Bella Hicks, Roland
Ellis, and Poe Ellis, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 12:00-1:00 p.m., at Griffin-Culpepper
Funeral Home in McGehee, Arkansas. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Bro.
Philip Payne officiating. A private interment will follow at Dermott Cemetery in Dermott,
Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Phil Hicks, Austin Hicks, Matthew Hicks, Wesley Ellis, and Clint
Hooker. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Dermott Cemetery at PO Box 324, Dermott, AR. Arrangements made by Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service of McGehee, Arkansas. Online guestbook may be signed at www.griffinculpepper.com.
