Loving mother, grandma, bobbies and auntie, Mary Margaret (Dransfield) Hicks, 87 years old, entered eternal rest peacefully on Thursday, December 25th, 2025, at 11:10 p.m. at Gentry Park Senior Living in Bloomington, Indiana with her daughter, Patty Jo by her side. Mary Margaret's life began on Monday, May 23, 1938, in
Indianapolis, Indiana. She was one of two children born to the late Francis A. "Kink" and Margaret (Niedhammer) Dransfield. Mary Margaret grew up in
Martinsville, Indiana, where she attended Martinsville schools and later earned her GED. She dedicated 47 years of service to the Barbara B. Jordan YMCA, where she served as Aquatics Coordinator. During her tenure, she taught thousands of children and adults how to swim, along with instructing water aerobics, swimnastics and water safety. Mary Margaret had a lifelong love of gardening and yard work. She also enjoyed crocheting, music, dancing, and working jigsaw puzzles. She was also an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan. She was a member of American Legion Post #230 and St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, where she faithfully served on the Altar Society. She leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her children, Pamela Justice (Jeff), Mark Hicks (Charlene), and Patty Jo Waddell; grandchildren, Amy Johnson (Dubbie), Andrew Heacock, Sara Roe, Nikki Jones Black (Doug), Jill Michel (Bryan), Lauren Riggins (Chase), Travis Hicks, Troy Hicks, Allison Stafford (Matthew), and Jordan Baldridge (Brandon); twenty-two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her partner of eighteen years, Tom Harbison; brother, Francis "Frannie" Dransfield; sons, Michael and David Hicks; daughter, Margaret Roe; and her granddaughter, Abby Leigh Roe. Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center, and on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026, one hour prior to the service at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 1709 E. Harrison St.,
Martinsville, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. She will be laid to rest at Hilldale Cemetery in
Martinsville, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to Morgan County
