Mary Helen Wilkey Honeycutt, age 88 of Burnsville, NC, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, August 25,2025. She was born on December 28, 1936, in the small town of Dayton, TN, to the late Homer and Daisy (Clark) Wilkey; In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Grover Honeycutt, who passed away on August 30, 2022; son-in-law, Charles Ray Clontz; sisters: Jennie Ruth Briscoe, Nellie Joyce Welcher, and Edith Layne; brother, Carl Wesley Wilkey; brothers-in-law: William Maxwell Briscoe, Albert (Leo) Farrington, and Hobart (Joe) Layne.

Mary was employed by the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek, Michigan, where she was a proud member of the 25-year club and where she made many lifelong friends. She loved flowers, cooking, and making people happy. Upon retiring she and her husband moved to Burnsville where they made their home for 35 years. Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she loved her family dearly.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Marie (Charles Clontz) Honeycutt; grandsons: Josh (Richelle Stonerock) Wentworth and Zachary (Lindsey Mosher) Wentworth; great-granddaughters: Riley Wentworth, and another expected great-granddaughter arriving in September; two sisters, Betty Farrington and Charolette Norton (Howard); brother-in-law, Merle Welcher; sisters-in-law: Janice Wilkey of Dayton, TN, and Geneva Earhart of TN;. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Helen had an amazing group of caregivers that took exceptional care of her, and the family would like to say special thanks to all of them: Sharon Honeycutt, Beverly Peterson and Melisca Laws. They would also like to thank Hospice and Pruett Health for being by their side during a very difficult time.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
