Mary Frances Horner

Mary F. Horner, 97, of Gurnee, Illinois, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

She was born November 1, 1923 in Mishawaka, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Frances (Morando) Carlino, who preceded her in death.
On July 6, 1946, in Mishawaka, she married Alfred E. Horner, who preceded her in death in 2002. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Nick, Michael and Don Carlino and sisters Anne Dietrich and Pamela White.
Mary was a Catholic who enjoyed cooking and baking. She lived in Michigan City, Indiana, working as a librarian and a secretary and in later years retired to Rolling Prairie. She lived in Gurnee, IL and most recently Lake Geneva, WI to be near her daughter.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Skamra of Gurnee, IL and Mary (Eric) Svendsen of Chesterton, IN; daughter-in-law Lisa (Fraser) Horner of Bronxville, NY; seven grandchildren, Carly (Bret) Wojcik, Lake Geneva, WI, Stacy (Brad) Kaminscky, Spring Grove, IL, Carl Svendsen, Winston-Salem, NC, Sarah (David) Corso, Munster, IN, Christopher (Amanda) Horner, Muncie, IN, Tim Horner, Manassas, VA, and Becky (Sam) Schaub, Tijeras, NM; seven great - grandchildren; a sister, Katie Schwind of South Bend, IN and sister-in-law, Dora May Martinsen, British Columbia, Canada. Mary was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Horner of Rolling Prairie.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 5 at the Posey Cemetery Chapel, with interment to follow.
