Mary Louise C. (Rustemeyer) Hosier, age 74, of
Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at The Arbors at Westbrook Terrace.
Mary was born October 19, 1951, in
Jefferson City, Mo., one of five children to William Leo and Anna Hildagard (Berhorst) Rustemeyer.
She grew up in Loose Creek, Mo., and was a 1969 graduate of Fatima High School, where she played in the band. She later earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Lincoln University.
Mary devoted her life to education, faith, and the people she loved. She began her teaching career at St. Francis Xavier School in Taos, later serving students at Immaculate Conception School in Loose Creek and Immaculate Conception School in Jefferson City. Her leadership and compassion guided her as principal at Our Lady of Snows School in Mary's Home. She taught college courses at William Woods University for several years and found great joy in tutoring children. Mary later transitioned to the Missouri Department of Corrections, where she helped expand educational opportunities for inmates. She retired in 2013 due to health concerns, and in her final years, she faced Alzheimer's disease with quiet courage and unwavering grace.
She possessed a steadfast faith and was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church. Always wanting to put her energy into serving children, she enjoyed teaching high school confirmation classes to encourage youth in their faith journey.
Mary loved her family deeply and found great joy in spending time with her children. For many years, she shared her home with her daughter and granddaughter, Kaitlyn, creating special memories together that she held close to her heart. She was close with her siblings, and Sunday gatherings with family in Loose Creek were among her most treasured traditions. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She especially loved baking cookies with her sisters, and she enjoyed traveling to Branson, Mo. to spend time with family at Silver Dollar City, watch shows, and shop.
She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, joyful spirit, and the way she reflected God's love through service to her family and students.
Survivors include: two children, Glen R. Hosier (Joanna) of
Jefferson City, Mo., and Nicole R. Schulte (Anthony) of Henley, Mo.; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Christensen, Stone Hosier, and Stella Hosier; four siblings, Catherine Rustemeyer of
